The Sound Guy

Many argue George Martin was essential to the phenomenal success of the Beatles and was often referred to as the “Fifth Beatle”. Music on the River also has a kind of “Fifth Beatle”. Our sound engineer, Mike Goodreau.

Mike founded Ace Audio in 1993 and has built his reputation by providing the highest quality sound for regional and national acts in stadiums, auditoriums and outdoor venues. Mike’s commitment to obtaining state-of-the-art gear and his experience running the board, have made him highly sought after by top tier entertainers including Chic Corea, Billy Joel, Bela Fleck, Marshall Tucker, Dennis DeYoung (Styx) and Jason Bonham (Led Zepplin), to name a few. And, of course, all of the artists who played the Music on The River concerts series and its forerunner, Summer Sounds.

Mike’s reputation has been key in our ability to hire national recording artists who insist on credentialed sound engineers. We attribute part of our success to the quality of sound MOTR has become known for. As Tom Rush said, “you’re only as good as your sound guy”. On behalf of grateful artists and delighted audiences, we thank you.
